By the way if you can't get by with speaking in Greek, the Greeks have a superlative hands only language, that you could try, Ray will confirm this, it's very good for telling someone to fuck off in a non verbal manner

PS My fruitless search for modern lunate sigmas revealed that some small Catholic communities in Greece, and the Greek communities in Italy, use the Latin alphabet.

Ages ago, I drank a bottle of wine from somewhere in Northern Greece, and noticed all the sigmas were written "c" (all the other Greek letters were written normally).

I can't for the life of me remember where it was from (apparently, the lunate sigma was used in the Byzantine period, but I'm pretty sure the wine wasn't from 500+ years ago).
